Accelerated Technology Announces Networking Software for micro-ITRON Developers, Nucleus NET for ITRON
Embedded Systems Conference San Francisco 2003
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 2003--Accelerated
Technology(R), the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics
Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT), today announced the availability of the
Nucleus(TM) NET embedded TCP/IP protocol stack for networking
developers using the micro-ITRON specification.
This release of Nucleus NET allows micro-ITRON users to develop
their networking application with a source code, royalty-free software
solution.
The micro-ITRON Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) specification,
developed from the ITRON interface standard, has been widely adopted
across a large variety of embedded platforms and applications. It is
now in use by more than 50 percent of the embedded developers in
Japan. As a result, there is a large base of application software
targeted to the micro-ITRON specification such as consumer
electronics, retail automation and telecommunications.
In the past, there has been an absence of quality middleware
products for micro-ITRON developers to use. The micro-ITRON compatible
Nucleus NET now addresses the networking middleware requirements and
offers developers a royalty-free solution for building networking
applications using micro-ITRON standards. Designed for the unique
requirements of the embedded environment, Nucleus NET is a scalable,
high performance embedded TCP/IP protocol stack. Support for the
following protocols is included within Nucleus NET: TCP, UDP, IP,
BOOTP Client, IGMP, ICMP, ARP, RARP, DNS Resolver, DHCP Client, RIP
version I/II, TFTP Client.
"Accelerated Technology was among the early adopters of the
micro-ITRON specification, releasing a version of our Nucleus kernel
compatible with the specification in January of 2000," said Robert
Day, director of marketing for the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor
Graphics. "We continue to broaden our link with the micro-ITRON
standard by offering these new compatible networking products and also
becoming the North American Liaison Office of the TRON Association."
(See press release entitled "Accelerated Technology; Official North
American Liaison Office of the TRON Association" 4/23/03.)
Availability and Pricing
Nucleus embedded software is sold with source code and without
royalty fees. Licenses for Nucleus NET begin at $14,495. For more
